DARREN WALKER

Darren is not just a name in the credits of our documentary Aggie, he's in the film, on screen in conversation with her, one of the people she trusted to ask her important questions that he didn’t already know the answer to. He appears in Aggie as a genuine partner in the story, someone who compelled others to understand that generosity as charity must transform into generosity as justice.

When Aggie decided to sell that Roy Lichtenstein painting and give $100 million to launch the Art for Justice Fund, he helped her build it into something durable, turning one extraordinary gesture into a six-year, uniquely effective campaign against mass incarceration.

Aubin’s partnership with Darren runs even deeper than one film. The Ford Foundation's JustFilms program has backed Aubin again and again over the years. He and his team recognized what serious, patient documentary work requires and chose to fund it anyway. His stewardship has meant that artists, organizers, and filmmakers working on the hardest problems have somewhere significant to turn. We're grateful to be among them.

We thank him for everything he's made possible.
