LEGACY RUSSELL
Glitch Feminism. The Kitchen. Black Meme: A History of the Images that Make Us. A career spent arguing, brilliantly and rigorously, that the edges of culture, the glitches, the failures, the queered spaces, are where the most important work happens.
Legacy leads one of New York's most essential arts institutions with a theoretical clarity and a personal warmth which is vital for them to fully champion the artists whose lives are treated as unlivable by the dominant culture. Aubin is in her extended family, all of us forced to invent new forms, new language, new kinship structures, new aesthetics, new survival strategies.
The work they champion, boundary-pushing, unapologetic, politically serious, is the work that Aubin aspires to. With Legacy at the helm of this transformative experiment, we can relax knowing that the most necessary cultural production will still find its home.
We see her. We believe in their vision.
